Applicants are sought for a part time police decision maker within a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) based at Swindon. There is potential for the successful applicant to work at Trowbridge on occasions.
This is an opportunity to be part of a multi-agency team working to share information in a timely manner, make more informed decisions and respond quickly to safeguarding concerns to protect children from significant harm. The successful applicants will be line managed within the Public Protection Department reporting structure.
The role involves reviewing referrals from police or other agencies to assess and evaluate intelligence and information gathered and in partnership, determine the level of risk presented. Following this assessment and triage process, cases will be allocate for necessary action and/or investigation by joint or single agencies as appropriate.
The successful applicants will be responsible for ensuring information is recorded accurately and activity is prioritised according to the level of risk. The post holder will represent Wiltshire Police in formal strategy discussions and meetings to identify safeguarding measures to ensure that children are appropriately protected from significant harm. This will require the post holder to make sound decisions utilising the National Decision Model and providing professional challenge, where necessary. It is anticipated that the post may incorporate multi-agency decision making in respect of safeguarding adults or Slavery/Trafficking offences in the future.
Applicants will need to be highly motivated, with a proven ability around making effective decisions, some knowledge or experience in working within the child protection arena and ideally in working with partner agencies. They must be able to demonstrate personal responsibility to deliver high standards of professional practice. The post holders will be expected to work shifts that cover the hours of 8am to 8pm daily and dayshifts on the occasional weekend. They may be required to change their duty at short notice. Initial training and development may take place across both MASH sites in Swindon & Trowbridge in the initial weeks of service but will have a fixed location in Swindon once the initial probationary period is over.
