We are currently looking for an experienced Communications Officer to join the dynamic team at Police Headquarters in Devizes.
The Corporate Communications department, a shared service between Wiltshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), has a solid reputation for our internal comms, PR, social media, digital and marketing campaigns. In the last few months alone, Wiltshire Police has led the national media agenda providing an international platform for our communications.
We are looking for a candidate with a keen interest in public affairs and the national news agenda as their main portfolio area will be providing communications support to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon. The main role of the PCC is to be the voice of the public and hold the Force to account so it is crucial that the successful candidate can offer new and exciting ways of doing this.
As an essential member of a small and busy team, you will have excellent organisational skills in order to manage a varied portfolio of communications projects. You will be managing a variety of internal and external stakeholders, delivering creative, innovative and effective communications to tight and sometimes conflicting timescales.
You will already have a proven track record in a similar role, in media, PR or marketing, or at least be able to demonstrate a substantial knowledge of the industry.
An awareness of media law would also be helpful, as will a thorough knowledge of new and emerging communications channels.
You will be confident, articulate and able to work well under pressure with a pro-active and creative approach to communications with a minimum degree of supervision.
You will also have strong all-round communications skills and be educated to a minimum of A’ level or equivalent.
As part of the job role, you will be based in Wiltshire and have a full driving licence.
This is a permanent, full time role.
You will also need to satisfy the Force’s eligibility and vetting requirements.
