The Crime Prevention team is delighted to have been offered funding from the Academic Health Science Network, to fund a third Community Engagement and Demand Management Officer for two years. The funding is specifically to provide an officer for Swindon; the service is already being delivered in the Wiltshire Council area.
This Police Staff role will support the delivery of the Wiltshire Police Crime Prevention Strategy by improving our response to vulnerable people with mental health issues, alongside managing and reducing demand.
This role will be instrumental in delivering a new and innovative approach in Wiltshire Police working with individuals who are intense users of services. The successful candidate will work alongside a range of partners, actively engaging with service users to develop long term plans to manage future demand on resources.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, being approachable, tactful and diplomatic and able to work with vulnerable members of the public as well as partner agencies, to develop and implement care plans. They will understand mental health and social disadvantage as risk factors in vulnerability.
Supported by the Partnership Sergeant for Mental Health, they will be able to make considered decisions using their own initiative within set guidelines and procedures.
Whilst not essential, previous experience of front line working with complex individuals, in policing or other contexts, would be an advantage.
We actively encourage potential applicants to contact Mike Hughes or Joanne Atkinson to find out more about the role.
PLEASE NOTE - Applications from internal candidates applying on a secondment basis MUST be endorsed by 1st and 2nd line manager. Please forward support to recruitment@wiltshire.pnn.police.uk by the closing date. Applications that have not been supported will not be progressed.
