Applicants are sought for a full time Indexer working with the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) based at Gablecross Police Station, Swindon. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Wiltshire Police MCIT working in collaboration alongside Avon & Somerset Police and Gloucestershire Constabulary to investigate major crime.
The Major Crime Investigation Team are responsible for all murder and manslaughter investigations as well as other serious crimes and incidents as determined by the departmental head.
Reporting to the Major Incident Room Manager, the post holder will be required to use the Home Office Large Major Enquiry System (HOLMES) and have responsibility for collating, filing and registering all case file data generated during an investigation.
Applicants will form part of the Indexing Team so must be able to demonstrate the ability to work and communicate with others whilst also showing the confidence to work individually when required. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to prepare, research, update and maintain database records. They must also be able to demonstrate personal responsibility to deliver high standards of professional practice, representing Wiltshire Police in meetings and during investigations.
The post holder must have a full UK driving licence and satisfy eligibility and vetting requirements. They will also be expected to work shifts covering the hours of 0800 to 2200, including one weekend in four. The post holder may be required to change their shift at short notice and travel to any location across the Wiltshire, Gloucestershire or Avon & Somerset Policing areas when demand requires.
Previous HOLMES 2 experience or qualifications would be desirable but full training will be provided.
