The Crime Standards Department is looking to recruit an Out of Court Disposal Co-ordinator at Devizes Police Headquarters.
The Out of Court Disposal Co-ordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the force’s out of court disposals are appropriately administered and that crime records are disposed of accurately. This is crucial to ensuring victims of crime are at the forefront of decision making in regard to the use of these disposals and that offenders comply with agreed conditions. Accurate recording of both crimes and disposals ensures that demand can be appropriately measured; crime offending patterns can be analysed and accurate statistical data can be provided to the Home Office and to the public.
The successful applicant will be expected to review records held on Niche RMS to make sure that the integrity of our crime recording data is of the highest standard and that an appropriate crime outcome can be applied. This will require the post holder to accurately apply national standards and policies.
The post holder will be responsible for the monitoring of Out of Court Disposals such as Community Resolutions, Restorative Justice and Caution outcomes to the point of completion by the offender. This will require liaison with appropriate diversionary services; with the offender directly where necessary and with the officer in the case to provide advice and guidance.
This role involves partnership working with Youth Offending Teams; Restorative Together; Victim Support and a variety of referral services. The post holder will be expected to attend meetings with partners and will also be responsible for producing samples for review by an Independent Scrutiny Panel.
It is essential that applicants can demonstrate good time management; prioritise a demanding workload and work to deadlines. The applicants should be able to work unsupervised but also as part of a team and to be flexible with an ability to adapt to changes in legislation, recording rules and working practices. Communication skills, both written and spoken is an essential part of the role as you will be providing expert recording guidance and feedback to police officers and staff.
Out of Court Disposals is a highly complex area and would ideally suit a candidate with previous crime recording or investigation experience.
