Crime Prevention Command in Wiltshire Police is recruiting a Licensing Officer, to have a responsibility for the geographic area of Swindon Borough, but who will be prepared and able to be flexible to provide team resilience across the whole Force area.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of working with the Licensing Act 2003 and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the licensing trade and licensable activities, with proven experience of gathering, collating and presenting evidence at Council Licensing Hearings and in court.
Able to evidence effective and successful partnership working with licensed premises, partners, and Responsible Authorities, you will show clear understanding of how the Licensing Officer role can contribute to reducing levels of crime and ASB associated with licensed premises, and where premises continue to cause a problem be ready to instigate enforcement activities.
Accurate and fastidious in your administration, you will ensure the updating of relevant records for example Niche, Storm, PNC; assess the information and intelligence to identify level of risk and where appropriate instigate further activity in line with Force policy. You will receive and review all applications for licences, for example TEN’s, Premises and DPS, in a timely way.
We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills who can engage at a range of levels with all those concerned in the licensed trade including licensees, police officers and staff, and partner agencies. Using sound evidence, you will be able negotiate, persuade and request the licensed trade to fully promote the objectives particularly in promoting a safe and vibrant Night Time Economy.
