An exciting opportunity has arisen for a secondment/fixed term position as a Disclosure Decision Maker (37 hour – 12 months) within the Force Disclosure Unit. The post holder will act as one of the main points of contact in the Force regarding formal disclosure to statutory bodies, courts and individuals under various legislative and regulatory schemes, such as the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
Duties will include the research and retrieval of information from Force and national computer systems, analysing and evaluating the information in order to collate and prepare relevant disclosure documentation. The post holder will be expected to make risk assessed decisions regarding disclosures in the majority of cases, referring more complex cases to a Senior Decision Maker with recommendations. You will also be required to prepare correspondence for many different types of disclosure.
The successful candidate will regularly liaise with other departments internally within the Force and externally with partner agencies, courts and members of the public. You will deal directly with professionals and the wider public regarding specific disclosure applications and the disclosure process in general.
The post holder will require effective communication skills and the ability to deal with conflict. On occasions, you will input data onto local and national systems and deal with data anomalies and discrepancies. You will maintain electronic document filing and workflow systems to manage disclosures.
The successful applicant will be expected to maintain high standards of confidentially and discretion and will be subject to security vetting.
