If you are passionate about serving your community, preventing and detecting crime, supporting victims and dealing with suspects, policing could be just the career for you.
As a Special Constable, you will make difficult decisions every day. You will need empathy, common sense and compassion, as well as a desire to make a difference. It’s challenging, but hugely rewarding – and no two days are the same.
Being a special constable means investigating crimes, dealing with violence or public order incidents, helping to find missing persons, attending the scenes of road traffic collisions and many other incidents that regular officers are involved in.
Whatever you do as a special, you will helping victims of crime and the vulnerable and helping to keep Wiltshire one of the safest places to live.
If you feel that you have what it takes to be a special constable, can give up at least 16 hours a month and would like to give back to your community doing what must be the most rewarding volunteer role there is, then please apply.
We want our police force to reflect the diverse communities we serve and welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and ages. Please get in touch with our Positive Action team for any help and guidance Postiveaction@wiltshire.police.uk.
See our website here for eligibility requirements here https://www.wiltshire.police.uk/police-forces/wiltshire-police/areas/careers/careers/police-officers/police-officer-recruitment/eligibility2/.
In addition to this you will need at least a Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
The application will require you to complete short paragraphs against 3 of the Competency Values Framework (CVF) from the College of Policing. We suggest looking at the Star Guidance attached to the application in order to help you evidence the competencies.
CVF guide can be found here https://assets.college.police.uk/s3fs-public/2020-11/competency-and-values-framework-for-policing_4.11.16.pdf
Should we reach our maximum numbers we might close early.
